Abstract
The theory of cylindrical shells has been studied by many authors including Love (1), Flügge (2), Novozhilov (3) and Biezeno and Grammel (4). In this chapter attention has been concentrated upon the derivation of the flexibility matrices and unrestrained displacements required for the type of analysis described in Chapter 4; the reader should consult one of the above references for a more detailed study of the basic theory.
