Interview with Nawal El Saadawi

  • Chapter
Diary of a Child Called Souad

Part of the book series: Giants of Contemporary Arab Literature ((GCAL))

Abstract

Diary of a Child Called Souad was not my first attempt at writing, but it was the only one that survived destruction and burning, which happened to my other childhood diaries. Since I learned how to write I had kept a secret diary, which I burned or destroyed. I was afraid that somebody might find it.

Interview with Dr. Nawal El Saadawi originally conducted in Arabic and translated into English by Dr. Omnia Amin, December 1, 2012.
