Foucault’s work is not without criticism. Critique is what he advocated and applied to his own approach to knowledge. Foucault demonstrated that knowledge is not the mere appropriation of what one knows, but how one lives and transform oneself. In the context of modern education, this approach to knowledge assists curiosity in our approach to how we are the subjects of knowledge, and how we become subject to a set of procedures in educating ourselves. Foucault’s analysis of the past helps inquiring how we experience ourselves in the process of knowing and transforming ourselves. His problematization of the present brings attention to the truth and conduct of contemporary education and provides an avenue for transformation
