Abstract
Construction companies in China now number in the thousands. The evaluation and selection of a construction company is just one of many steps critical to the success of a project. In this chapter, you will sit in on the meetings as we met with Chinese construction companies. These visits included the initial meetings scheduled by the consultant we used in my early trip to Shanghai, meetings with construction companies operating in the Suzhou Industrial Park, introductory meetings held with potential construction companies for our project, and lastly, meetings with the final candidates to build our green-field plant. (The consultant had also included visits with equipment manufacturers, design institutes, and construction companies in the Shanghai area.)
