Abstract

Offshore captive centres are one of a broad range of sourcing models available to firms. While most of the literature on outsourcing and offshoring has focused on a third-party sourcing arrangement, this chapter will solely examine the option of in-house, however, from an offshore or nearshore location. The key aspects examined in this chapter are:
  • The history of the captive centre industry

  • The strategies captive centres have pursued

  • The trends and changes in the captive centre industry

  • Shared Service Centres and the captive model.
