Abstract

The evidence and argument presented in the previous chapters have clear implications for the politics of integration in postcommunist states. Accession to the EU of 10 postcommunist states—and the ongoing exclusion of some others—will have major effects on the dynamics of political competition in East European states themselves and may raise significant challenges for EU governance.
