Abstract

This chapter will mainly concern developments in Sweden since 1990 and, as I am here representing a funding institution, the Swedish Research Council, my comments are given from the perspective of a financing body Still, as a professor of law, I cannot help but see the situation and the prospects from other perspectives—those of a research university in Sweden both today and in the future, as well as an individual researcher. I will be careful to avoid going into the issue of overhead costs.
