The Problem of Caliphate

  • Ali Abd al-Raziq

Abstract

Islam as we know is a sublime calling sent by God for the benefit of the entire world, East and West, Arabs and non-Arabs, men and women, rich and poor, knowledgeable and illiterate. It is a unified religion, with which God wanted to bind people together not forsaking any part of the world. Islam has never been a call exclusively for the Arabs, an exclusive Arab unity, or an exclusive Arab religion. Islam would never favor one community over another, one language over another, one region over another, one time over another, or one generation over another except according to their piety. This is in spite of what you see; that the prophet (peace be upon him) was an Arab and that he naturally loved the Arabs, and commended them, and that The Book of God was written in lucid Arabic.
