Islam as the Foundation of Knowledge

  • Sayyid Qutb

Abstract

The first part of the first pillar of Islam is a dedication of prefect servitude to God alone, and witness to this meaning and requirement is given by the recital of “There is no god except God.” The second part of this pillar is that for knowing the details of this servitude and its true and correct way one has to refer to the Messenger of God (S.A.W). Witnessing “Muhammed (S.A.W.) is the Messenger of God” refers to this. The practical shape of absolute servitude to God is that Allah alone should be deemed the Lord (the worshipped) in faith, practice, and law.
