Abstract
What would the course of Persian literary history look like without the impact of Nizami’s work? The poetry of Nizami of Ganje (ca. 536/1141–605/1209) is so original that we have yet to appreciate its true value.
This is a translation of C.-H. de Fouchécour, “Les récits d’ascension (mi’raj) dans l’oeuvre de Nezami” dans Ètudes Irano-Aryennes Offertes À Gilbert Lazard, Réunies par C.-H. Fouchécour et Ph. Gignoux, Cahier de Studia Iranica, 7. 99–108, (Paris: Association Pour L’Aèvancement des Etudes Iraniennes, 1989). We are thankful to Harry Neale for his useful comments.
