Abstract

Albert Camus’ academic training began, not in his native village, Mondovi, but in Belcourt, the working-class area of Algiers, to which he had moved in 1918, after his father’s death. Camus attended, first, Belcourt’s kindergarten, and then its primary school, the Ecole Communale.
