Abstract
This eleventh-century compilation of story cycles, attributed to Somadeva Bhatta, recounts the adventures, amorous and otherwise, of both male and female members of royal and aristocratic families. This story of the premarital love of a princess for a married woman anticipates in interesting ways the premarital collegiate woman-woman romances common in twentieth-century Indian fiction.
This translation from The Kathasaritsagara of Somadeva Bhatta, nted. Pandit Durgaprasad and Kasinath Pandurang Parab (Bombay: Nirnaya Sagara Press, 1903, 2nd ed.)
