Vijay Dan Detha: “A Double Life” (Rajasthani)

Vijay Dan Detha is one of India’s leading short story writers and among the most eminent writing in Rajasthani today. Winner of a Sahitya Akademi award, he is a founder of the Rupayan Sansthan, Jodhpur, an institution that documents Rajasthani folklore, art and music. He is the author of Baatan Ni Phulwadi (A Garden of Tales), a collection of short stories that draw on folklore. Some of Dan Detha’s longer short stories, of which “Dohri Joon” (A Double Life) is one, have been published in Hindi in two volumes entitled Duvidha and Uljhan.
