Abstract
Anthropology is what anthropologists do.1 That is to say, the boundaries as well as the distinctive features of the discipline vary with time. Changes in the world at large and in academe, anthropologists’ responses to these changes, and their individual and collective initiatives all contribute to the dynamism of the discipline.
