Abstract

Colitis that is not due to inflammatory bowel disease (non-IBD) includes a diverse group of conditions. They can be subdivided into infective and noninfective forms. The most common cause of colitis is acute infective colitis. However, more recently characterized and less common forms of colitis are an important clinical problem and a significant cause of patient morbidity [1].
