Angiography occupies an important role in the care of the ITU patient. It provides the “gold standard” albeit invasive means of imaging the vasculature. Such procedures involve gaining vascular access and then employing digital subtraction angiography to image the vessels. In addition, modern interventional radiology techniques mean a number of procedures such as embolisation or endovascular stent insertion can be performed. Such procedures are carried out in either the angio suite or the operating theatre necessitating transfer.
