Abstract
Diarrhea is a common problem in ICU patients, with an estimated incidence of up to 40 %. Common noninfectious etiologies include enteral feeding, hypoalbuminemia, bowel ischemia and medication, while Clostridium difficile colitis is the most common infectious cause of diarrhea in the ICU. Abdominal imaging modalities especially plain radiographs and computed tomography (CT) are widely used to establish the cause and monitor treatment response in these patients.
