Abstract
The battery is an essential factor for development of electric, plugin electric, and hybrid vehicles. The cost, volume, charging convenience and lifetime of the battery determines the marketization process of hybrid electric and all electric vehicles. Thus proper management of energy storage systems (ESS) with main focus on batteries is of great importance and in great need. This ter focuses on the battery cell balancing, status monitoring, integrated ESS and thermal management for the purpose of battery lifetime extension and overall fuel efficiency improvement. In the meantime, fundamental definitions and calculation examples of ESS parameters are also given for readers’ better comprehension.
