End of Life Care in Neurological Disease

Abstract

The care of a person with progressive neurological disease is complex and requires a multidisciplinary approach. The challenge for all services is the identification of the person who is deteriorating and for whom the emphasis of care is changing. There is the need to increase the awareness and encourage an open approach of all professionals so that people at the end of life can receive the care they require. This may include changing attitudes and education of all involved - patients, their families and professionals.
