Surgical Treatment of Hammer Toe, Claw Toe, and Mallet Toe Deformity

  • Chapter
Book cover International Advances in Foot and Ankle Surgery

Abstract

Hammer toe and claw toe deformity is often addressed surgically. Depending on the stage of the deformity and on the dynamic and static factors, the surgical treatment should be performed via sequential procedures. The decision of how many surgical procedures will be required is done preoperatively as well as in the surgical theatre during the progression of surgically stabilizing and balancing the ray (digit and metatarsal).
