A Patient’s Perspective
Following my diagnosis in November 1994, the changes in diabetes care that I have been privy to have been fairly dramatic. At 10 years old, there is little that can be recalled around this time which may explain why my diabetes occurred; I had been well up until this point and like most other 10-year-old girls. I can remember vividly my diagnosis and the subsequent weeks when adjustment was the most difficult. This chapter will explore my encounters of living with diabetes from diagnosis to treatment changes, personal experiences and feeling, and subconsciously living in fear of diabetes-associated complications.
