Abstract

Look at the photograph (Figure 1.1) opposite this page. It depicts the constellation of Orion. The photographshows many stars, though there are a great many more that are far too dim to show up on it. Orion also contains many other significant objects, though most of these also do not show up on this conventional photograph. In fact, you could spend a lifetime just studying some of the objects within this constellation.
