Abstract
The impetus for undertaking the spares analysis and developing an analytical tool for the evaluation was to establish the viability of using a common spares pool across a fleet of gas turbines (GTs). Intuitively, the use of such a pool ought to provide savings compared with a situation in which each GT makes its own arrangements. However, the modeling of such a strategy across a fleet of GTs is an extremely complex if undertaken by analytical means, hence the need for a simulation model.
