The Load Matrix — a method for optimising powertrain durability and reliability test programmes

The Load Matrix is a systematic approach to generate new or optimise existing validation programmes. It is based on component-specific test acceleration factors and uses damage models as well as statistics. Using AVL’s Load Matrix approach helps to achieve complete test programmes while avoiding unrealistic over-testing. This paper describes the background, the Load Matrix process and several applications in detail.
