Verification of Fault Detection Capability with Diversified Software

Abstract

Diversified software uses a combination of functional, data and time redundancy, and the paper discusses fault detection in diversified software. A test system that includes a small diversified software application where faults can be injected is described. The results from the fault injection experiments show that diversified software on singular hardware will give the basis for a highly self-testable system, and that the fault detection capabilities are comparable to traditional functional redundant systems.
