Abstract
In July 1998 the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation (THSRC), a privately owned company, signed an agreement with the Taiwan, Republic Of China (ROC) Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) that committed THSRC to construct and operate a High Speed Railway (HSR) between Taipei, the capital city in the North, and Kaohsiung (Tsoying), an industrial city in the South — a total distance of 345km.
