Fire prevention in underground works: software modelling applications

Abstract

Fires can be considered a risk source of great “magnitude” for underground works. As is possible to deduce from USBM data, they often originate from the complex equipment that is needed for work, and only in some cases, from the presence of natural gas or inflammable dust (eg. coal).
