Abstract
In the previous three chapters we have examined various types of variables and now in this chapter we turn to ways of manipulating the information they hold. We shall introduce the concepts of expressions, operands and operators. Expressions are used to calculate a result involving a number of operands (either variables or constants). Operators allow us to manipulate the variables and constants in the expressions. Operands are the constants or variables which the operators operate upon.
