Abstract

In this chapter we consider the following parabolic initial-boundary value problem, which is of reaction-diffusion type, namely,
$$ u_t = u_{xx} + F(u), x,t > 0, $$

$$ u(x,0) = \left\{ {\begin{array}{*{20}c} {u_0 g(u), 0 \leqslant x \leqslant \sigma ,} \hfill \\ {0, x > \sigma ,} \hfill \\ \end{array} } \right. $$

$$ u_x (0,t) = 0, t > 0, $$

$$ u(x,t) \to 0 as x \to \infty ,t \geqslant 0. $$
