The basic characteristic of these practices is that they are complex. They make use of science for its knowledge that cannot be reduced to savoir-faire or to technique, even if the latter plays an important role. This sort of science and speculation is found in relation, in contact with, what one might call an intelligence. But that would be to make a value judgement. We note that there is an ethical tendency that, with the same etymology, moves from complexity to complicity. What is true is that science and finance play together. This is not a secret understanding for deception, so to talk of a collusion would be wrong. What do we say then? There is, let us say, a wink, or a connivance (from cum nivere, meaning to wink).
