The ball which the croupier throws onto the roulette table moves in a well-determined direction, with each bounce governed by the laws of mechanics. Their succession is so complex however , that the slot where it finally comes to rest is governed by chance. The laws for the calculation of probabilities govern the gamblers’ winnings based on their bets.
