Abstract

This paper deals with a computer-aided system for the design of the ship power plant safe for its operators. The system consists of two modules: the system of the hazard zone identification in the ship power plants based on their preliminary design and the expert system aiding design of the most dangerous zones from the operator’s safety point of view. The first mentioned system is presented in this paper. The issues connected with ways of identification and assessment of hazard zones in the ship power plants are described. In particular, problems connected with knowledge acquisition from experts and its representation in the system knowledge base are presented.
