Renal Retransplantations — Results and Surgical Aspects
From January 30 1971 to January 30 1997, 625 renal transplants and 4 simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplants were performed at Clinical Hospital Center in Rijeka, Croatia. There were 28 kidney retransplantations in 27 patients because one patient received the third transplant. The majority, 22 patients were males and only 5 patients were females. Fifteen patients received their first graft from a living related donor and 12 patients received a kidney from a cadaver. Vascular complication in 5 patients, two nonviable kidneys, and chronic rejection in 20 patients was cause for graft loss.
