Abstract

The partition of right and left lobes, as well as the procurement of the left lobe from a living donor, keeping the medial segment totally interrupted of portal supply in continuity with the right hemiliver, is to be forbidden by some authors (Couinaud and Houssin), because of the risk of ‘immediate lethal necrosis’ of this segment.
