Abstract

In this study, the effects of town waste on plant nutrients, physical and chemical properties of soils taken from three different soil series (Urfa, Akabe, Yenice) in Harran Plain were researched. It was observed that Şanlıurfa town wastes have affected largely plant nutirent levels and physical, chemical properties of the soils. While the available K2O in untreated soils of Urfa series is 108 kg da−1, the same available K2O amount for exposed soils from sewage reaches upto 485 kg da−1. For Yenice series.it is 89 kg da−1 for clean soils and 263 kg da−1 for soils irrigated by waste water. The available K2O for Akabe series of clean sample is 119 kg da−1 and the sample exposed from town waste (garbage) is 402 kg da−1. In the same way, the available P2O5 amount in untreated soils of Urfa series is 4.9 kg da−1 while the available P2O5 soil exposed from town waste (sewage) reach upto 16.8 kg da−1. The increase in P2O5 may be attributed to domestic water waste mixed to general town waste. The P2O5 amount for Yenice series of unexposed soil is 3.9 kg da−1 while the P2O5 amount of exposed soil from town waste is 13.4 kg da−1. The same measurement is 4.6 kg da−1 for Akabe series of unexposed soil from town waste and 11.4 kg da−1 for the treated soils. Town wastes have affected the Cl, and SO−2 4of contents soils.
