Part E: Outcomes — Critical Overview: Australian Registry

  • Alex P. S. Disney

This review will address some aspects of management of end stage renal disease (ESRD) in Australia and New Zealand during the past ten years, 1983–1992. The Australian and New Zealand Dialysis and Transplant Registry (ANZDATA) has had complete recordings of all transplants since 1965 and of all patients who have received regular dialysis since 1971. The data acquired from voluntary completion of regular surveys by medical and nursing staff have provided invaluable opportunities to influence health policy directions, and to implement quality assurance in comparison with other countries and between hospitals in Australia and New Zealand
