Registries for renal disease have developed principally to track the way in which patients with end stage renal failure have been managed. The first such Registry was developed by the European Dialysis and Transplantation Association in the 1960’s and then dealt principally with countries in the West of Europe where both dialysis and transplantation were being used as forms of renal replacement therapy
