The practical application of Fuji Prescale pressure-sensitive film

  • A. B. Liggins

Data regarding the contact areas and interface pressures which are produced between the loaded articular surfaces of a physiological joint can provide an insight into the biomechanics of that joint, under normal conditions (Soslowsky itet al., 1992), traumatic conditions (Haut, 1989), pathological (Fukubayashi and Kurosawa, 1980) or post-operative conditions (Marder et al., 1993). These factors can also be used to investigate the interaction of the components comprising an artificial replacement joint (Soudry et al., 1986). Consequently, a variety of techniques have been developed for recording both contact areas and interface pressures.
