Decompostion of the Average of the Squares of Minimizing Distances
The minimal distance between two geosets G and J depends on the difference in position, dimensions, and shape of gG and gJ. The interpretation of m\( \bar D \)(G, J) might be facilitated if we could measure and analyze the impact of each of these determinants separately. This is not easy, but we can make considerable progress toward it by following the two approaches discussed in this chapter and the one that follows.
