Atrial Fibrillation after Noncardic Surgery

Abstract

New onset atrial fibrillation is very common after cardiac surgery and though it occurs less frequently after other types of surgery, it is still a major clinical problem. With the large numbers of surgical procedures performed each year in the United States, even a small incidence translates into a significant absolute number of patients.
