Heidi B. Hammel, PhD, is a senior research scientist at the Space Science Institute in Boulder, Colorado. Her main areas of interest are ground- and space-based astronomical observations of outer planets' atmospheres and satellites at visible and near infrared wavelengths. She has won many awards for her education and public outreach work. She lives in Ridgefield, Connecticut with her husband and three children.
