We present a brief history of the Institute of Astronomy and Meteorology of the University of Guadalajara (UdeG). We describe its current status and projects for the long term. Most of the historical remarks are based on the document (in Spanish) available at the institute’s website (http://astro.iam.udg.mx)3.
