Assessing the risks and benefits of a treatment is more comprehensive and sensitive when several variables are considered simultaneously rather than ignoring some or analyzing them separately. For instance, the large number and variety of possible manifestations of a dose effect in a subject’s clinical response usually necessitates that several endpoints be observed jointly to avoid missing any crucial effects or interactions.
