Since the dawn of human civilization groups of people have banded together with a goal of developing orderly societies. These societies have often created governments. These governments have enacted and enforced limitations on conduct and established procedures for accountability for those who violate these limitations. This chapter provides a basic overview of these limitations that pertain to the possession and use of conducted electrical weapons (CEWs).1
