Abstract
The desire to reverse the aging process has generated great interest throughout history. Ancient texts document the practice of applying various substances to the skin in an attempt to rejuvenate the appearance. More recently, numerous factors have contributed to the rise in popularity of skin resurfacing procedures, including excess ultraviolet exposure, smoking, the aging baby boomer cohort, and our youth-centric culture. The result is a boom in the desire to allay the aging process, prolong youth, and enhance beauty. Resurfacing procedures have long provided a foundation to achieve these goals.
