On this date in 2004, the Cassini mission (a joint effort of NASA/ESA/ASI) became the first spacecraft to orbit Saturn. In 1917, astronomers at Mt. Wilson were celebrating as their 100″ primary mirror arrived, though it didn’t see “first light” until 5 months later! Start your stargazing evening off right by having a look at the Moon’s wasted Southern Highland area. Familiarize yourself with the many craters, and we’ll return in the months ahead to identify them!
