The philosophy of this book is to use, by all means possible, geometry instead of group theory; this chapter is crucial for the development of our approach. Informally speaking, we introduce systems of mirrors by reflecting a mirror in a mirror, as in a kaleidoscope. We shall soon see that this is a very powerful and useful metaphor.
