Abstract
Impulse response of an ultra-wideband antenna needs to be determined to completely characterize it. Hence, knowledge of the input to the antenna and its response to the same along with a technique to relate them with the impulse response needs to be devised. Deconvolving the input and the output signals gives the impulse response of the system. A solution to the deconvolution problem is presented using an iterative method, wherein the iteration is applied over discrete data in time domain. Given the input and the measured output from an asymptotic conical monopole, which is an ultra-wideband system, a method is shown to determine the impulse response of the monopole. The uniqueness of the estimate of the impulse response is sensitive to the nature of the errors in input and output data acquired. Here, conjugate gradient method is employed to estimate the impulse response of the monopole antenna.
