Abstract

Richard Muller sighed deeply once again and took yet another long look at the diagrams and formulae on the large blackboard. How does nature manage to bombard the Earth with asteroids every 26 million years? Together with his colleague Marc Davis, Muller had investigated just about all the possibilities. But to no avail. There was still no explanation for the periodic asteroid showers.
