Abstract

Cardiac catheterization in the patient with congenital heart disease shares few common elements with routine cardiac catheterization in the adult with isolated coronary or even valvular heart disease. Indeed, although many of the tools are similar, the indications for catheterization, the techniques used, and interventions performed are widely diverse. Nevertheless, both types of procedures require careful preparation that is individualized to the specific patient and case.
